Home Maintenance Services
Our Home Maintenance Sector aims to assist consumers to remain in their homes by helping them make more informed decisions about home maintenance, repairs, minor modifications and home security.
If eligible, consumers may receive a financial subsidy towards the labour costs for MINOR home maintenance and repairs relating to HEALTH, SAFETY and SECURITY.
Eligibility: The Home Assist Secure service provides free information and referrals however to be eligible for a financial contribution towards of the cost of authorised maintenance work you must:
- 60 years and over or of any age with a disability.
- 50 years or older and identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Hold a current Pensioner Concession Card.
- Unable to make use of alternative forms of assistance such as through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, Veterans' Affairs, the Department of Housing, family or friends.
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme focuses on assisting persons who are frail or aged persons at risk or persons with special needs with Maintenance assistance focused more on a person's on going needs.
The Queensland Community Care Program has similar aims by providing basic maintenance and support services for eligible people under 65 years of age and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people under 50 years of age who have a moderate, severe or profound disability or a condition which restricts their ability to carry out activities of daily living.
The assistance provided is directed towards health related maintenance, falls prevention and helping people to remain independent in their own homes.
Rental Properties
The Association does not does not undertake maintenance or repairs that are considered to be the responsibility of the landlord (lessor) under Residential Tenancies legislation or tenancy agreements.
